UK VAT Requirements

Marketplaces like Biblio are required to collect and remit VAT to the UK for all orders meeting the following criteria:

-the customs value of the order is GBP 135 or less (VAT verbiage will not show on orders where the value is more than GBP 135)
-the seller is located outside of the UK
-the order is shipping to a customer in the UK

For orders meeting these criteria, Biblio will collect and remit applicable VAT. For books and other printed matter (magazines, periodicals, sheet music, etc.) the VAT rate is 0%. For more detail on the types of items that receive a 0% VAT rate please visit:

 https://www.gov.uk/guidance/zero-rating-books-and-printed-matter-for-vat-notice-70110.

For applicable orders Biblio will add the following to the shipping label that you can print from the order details:

Biblio VAT Reg# 367 2959 49
Contents are Zero-Rated (Books)

If you do not use the shipping label we provide, then you must add that text to the label or on the outside of the package. For orders shipping to the UK with a customs value greater than GBP 135, no changes on your part are needed and these orders should be shipped normally. Asendia is including all the relevant information when sending to the EU, so you don't have to do anything special with those. Those will hip to the Biblio Export Center address (Asendia), as usual.
